Fruit and Vegetable Drying
Apple Heat Pump Drying Systems
Apple drying projects require the material form, cut thickness, fresh moisture, target condition and loading method to be reviewed together. HPDRYER develops the drying-room, airflow and control approach from the actual process data.

Material Preparation
Whole fruit, slices and prepared apple forms behave differently
Slice thickness and size distribution affect exposed surface area and the distance moisture must travel. The engineering review should also record peel condition, pretreatment if used, surface wetness and whether the product tends to stick to trays.
Project information to provide
- Apple variety and incoming condition
- Whole, sliced, diced or other prepared form
- Fresh batch mass and intended loading density
- Initial and target moisture when known
- Required appearance or handling condition
Drying Challenges
Uniform loading supports a more consistent air path
Overlapping slices, uneven thickness and blocked tray area can create different drying rates inside the same room. Browning sensitivity and surface changes should be discussed before selecting temperature and humidity control logic.
Engineering considerations
Moisture load
Fresh mass and wet-basis moisture data are used to estimate water removal for each batch.
Temperature and humidity
The control profile depends on apple form, product sensitivity and the required final condition.
Airflow
Supply and return paths should reach every tray without creating bypass zones.
Loading method
Tray spacing, trolley geometry and slice coverage influence room resistance and uniformity.
System architecture requires project review
Open-loop or closed-loop operation may be considered according to local climate, moisture discharge requirements, room construction and control objectives. Neither architecture should be selected from material name alone.
